Childcare funding for two-year-olds
Funded* nursery / childcare places are available for children aged two for 15 hours a week, 38 weeks of the year (term-time), from the term after their second birthday.
This scheme started off supporting parents on a low household income from work or benefits, but is now being extended from April 2024 so that working parents can also receive 15 hours of childcare funding.
The two schemes have different eligibility criteria** and different rules.
